Odzala-Kokoua National Park

Located in the northwest of the Republic of Congo, Odzala-Kokoua National Park is one of Africa's most pristine and biodiverse rainforests. Covering over 13,500 km², it is part of the second-largest tropical rainforest in the world — the Congo Basin.

Key Highlights:
• Western Lowland Gorillas – Odzala is home to one of the highest concentrations of western lowland gorillas in the world.
• Forest Elephants – The park hosts significant populations of forest elephants, often spotted at forest clearings (bais).
• Biodiversity hotspot – Over 100 mammal species and 440 bird species.
• Congo River Tributaries – The park is crisscrossed by rivers and streams, offering canoe expeditions.
• Ndzehi and Mokabi Domes – Two large forest clearings where wildlife congregates, offering incredible viewing opportunities.

Odzala is accessible via direct flights to Ouesso from Brazzaville, followed by a scenic drive or boat ride to the park. The best time to visit is during the dry season (June to September) when wildlife gathers around water sources.
